Lost 1750 - Unidentified 18th-century sailing ship
Little has been published about this site, so some details are uncertain. If you can add to its story, please email info@shipwrecks.bm.
The 'Frenchman' is a working name for an unidentified sailing ship thought to have been wrecked on Bermuda's reefs around 1750. The site was located by divers in 1983. As with many of Bermuda's colonial-era wrecks, the hull's identity has never been established, and the date is an estimate based on the remains.
The name should not be confused with L'Herminie, the French frigate lost on the western reefs in 1838, which is sometimes also called 'the Frenchman on our rocks'.
